1. Generation

The history of the Imbach transport company begins over 120 years ago. The company founder Simon Imbach, born in 1875, quarries the first gravel on the "Sandmättli" site in Wolhusen-Markt, which he acquired in 1905. He sells the extracted building material to private individuals or builders and transports it by horse and cart. Although gravel extraction is rationed in 1917, the first Orion truck is purchased in addition to the existing horse-drawn carts. Four years later, the first Saurer joins the fleet.

After the death of company founder Simon Imbach, his sons Simon the Second, Josef and Valentin Imbach take over the business in 1937 under the name "S. Imbach's Söhne Kieswerk und Autotransporte". This was in a difficult economic and political environment. With the purchase of a second-hand truck in 1943, the Imbach company colors of red and green, which are still used today, were created - purely by chance. in 1968, S. Imbach's Söhne is transformed into the company Imbach AG

The third generation, Simon the Third and Josef Imbach, took over the management and the majority of shares from their fathers in 1979. At that time, the company focused entirely on wagonload transportation.

At this time, Imbach AG in Wolhusen employed 20 people, and the third generation's vehicle fleet comprised 10 trucks.

When Walter Imbach, the fourth generation, took over the company in 1985, one of his first official acts was to add two floors to the "Sandmättli" warehouse. He realized that the haulier of the future would have to offer his customers not only transport but also upstream services. Sale of the company to Galliker Transport AG in Altishofen

Walter and Ursula Imbach managed the family business until the end of 2007, but health reasons forced Walter Imbach to sell his life's work to the family company Galliker Transport AG in Altishofen on January 1, 2008. Despite the change of ownership, Imbach Logistik AG has continued to develop very autonomously in recent years. It was therefore decided to retain the name Imbach Logistik AG. Since the sale, the company has been managed by Walter Imbach's son-in-law Christian Kempter-Imbach.

New building LC1

In order to expand the storage capacity at the Schachen site, a new logistics center was planned and built in 2009 to replace the previous warehouse and provide significantly more storage space. Logistics Center 1 was designed to meet the specific needs of small parts, single-bottle and returns logistics as well as the wide range of additional services (value-added services). The four-storey building also has a large pallet warehouse for POS and promotional items.

2013

New building LC3

Thanks to the steady growth in the area of warehouse logistics, the building infrastructure was expanded in 2013 to include another logistics center. The largest building to date was constructed in the same way as Logistics Center 2 and has a basement for block storage, a first floor for goods handling and a narrow-aisle high-picking warehouse for goods subject to food safety regulations. This step will increase the storage capacity at the headquarters to around 30,000 pallet spaces.
